Inside.

GranovaQ® Inside · Apparel

A graphene material for fabrics that are worn and washed every day. GranovaQ brings the material's functions as marketed in Japan, such as antibacterial and far-infrared emission, plus resistance to washing, to recovery wear, innerwear and sportswear — made visible by the Inside logo.

01 / Industry challenges

What the industry faces.

01 / Challenge

“Antibacterial” is not enough.

In textiles, “antibacterial finish” no longer sets a product apart. Brands need words that explain what is inside the fiber.

02 / Challenge

Washing wears functions down.

Does the function last wash after wash? That is hard with surface finishes. Blending the material into the fiber helps it last much longer.

03 / Challenge

Standing out in recovery wear.

Recovery wear is a fast-growing category in Japan, and GranovaQ helps brands stand out in it.

02 / What Inside brings

Inside × Apparel.

Three things a brand gains in apparel by carrying the Inside logo: function, differentiation and co-marketing.

  1. 01 / What Inside brings

    Resistant to washing.

Because the material is kneaded into the fiber, its functions hold up through repeated washing and last a long time.

  2. 02 / What Inside brings

    Far-infrared emission.

Fiber designs that use the far-infrared emission of graphene. The material is also used in recovery wear (notified in Japan as a general medical device).

  3. 03 / What Inside brings

    Odor-resistant, anti-mite, anti-mold.

Antibacterial and odor-resistant, anti-mite and anti-mold functions, as marketed in Japan, in a single material. It contains no metals and does not leach out.

Recovery wear

Regulatory status in Japan

Recovery wear made with GranovaQ fiber is notified in Japan as a Class I general medical device. Its general name is household far-infrared garment for promoting blood circulation (家庭用遠赤外線血行促進用衣).

Its Japanese labeling lists four indications:

  • Promotes blood circulation
  • Relieves muscle tension and stiffness
  • Relieves muscle fatigue
  • Helps recovery from fatigue

Individual results vary. This describes the product's regulatory status and labeling in Japan. It has not been cleared or approved by the U.S. FDA or certified under the EU Medical Device Regulation, and no medical claims are made for markets outside Japan.

The five functions of GranovaQ, as marketed in Japan — antibacterial and odor-resistant, antiviral, anti-mite, anti-mold and far-infrared emission — are explained on the Functions page. They describe the material itself, as marketed in Japan. They are not claims that any product protects people from bacteria, viruses or disease. Claims that may be made for products sold outside Japan depend on local regulations (for example, the U.S. EPA and the EU Biocidal Products Regulation). Please consult us for each market.

06 / FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

Q. Should we use a surface finish or blend the material into the fiber?
A. Inside qualification requires the material to be kneaded in or added at spinning. Surface finishes tend to wear off, so they are not eligible.
Q. What is the minimum order quantity?
A. It depends on the industry and grade. At present we discuss orders starting from several hundred kilograms. Please contact us through Apply for Inside.
Q. Can we make antibacterial or antiviral claims for apparel?
A. How the material's functions (antibacterial and odor-resistant, antiviral, anti-mite, anti-mold, far-infrared emission) may be described depends on the product and its use. Under Japanese rules, antiviral wording is limited to a defined target, such as “reduces specific viruses that adhere to the fiber.” Outside Japan, claims depend on local regulations — please consult us.
Q. Can you support sales outside Japan?
A. Yes. Labeling and procedures differ from market to market, so please tell us which countries or regions you plan to sell in and we will advise you individually.
